Combining Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation Procedures

Whether you’ve experienced childbirth or some life (and body) changing event, many women find themselves wanting to enhance their breasts. When it comes to cosmetic procedures breast enhancement is one of the most common requests. Why? Because people (not just women) want to hold on to their youth as long as possible. We feel young in our minds, but our bodies age with time and often change with certain life events (like pregnancies or weight changes).

The good news is that maintaining a youthful glow is possible and enhancing your body through breast augmentation is a fairly simple way to reverse any bodily damage attained over the years, especially when paired with a breast lift.

When breast augmentation implants are combined with a breast lift the effects can be dramatic while maintaining a natural look and feel. Women immediately feel younger and more confident with their bodies when they look in the mirror and this drastically improves not only intimacy but also their overall self-esteem.

How to Know Which Implant is Best

The first step in a breast augmentation and lift procedure would be to decide which type of implant is best for you. There are a few options and each has pros and cons, but all of them are wonderful, trusted options used by many women. Selecting the correct option is a personal choice and truly depends on the person.

Saline Implants

Generally, this option is best for those who want a less invasive surgery which provides quicker recovery and minimal scarring. During a saline implant surgery, the implant will be inserted through a very small incision, then inflated with saline. The cons to saline implants found over the years are—though frequently not the case—that they are more likely to rupture or pop compared to other options. The other con, some women mention is that the saline implants tend to feel less natural than the others. However, if a less invasive procedure is right for you and you’re not looking for a huge jump in cup size, this could be a great option.

Gel Implants

Gel implants are definitely the most common choice across the board. Why? Well, women like the realistic, natural feel of gel implants. They are the most natural feeling option out there. These implants are filled with gel and very soft to the touch. There is a possibility that the gel could spread if ruptured, but this is far more rare with gel implants. They tend to stay put and the risk of rupture is far less than saline implants. Given the natural feel and the reduced risk of complications, it’s the most common choice for women across the world.

Gummy Bear Implants

No, it’s not what it sounds like. These implants are just very grim like a gummy bear. Soft in a sense, but quite firm and stable. They are the least likely to rupture since the interior gel stays in place even if the shell happens to break open. If rupturing is a complication you are really worried about, the gummy bear implants are a good option as they are the least likely to rupture, however, as stated before, these implants are not as natural feeling as a gel implant. They do hold their shape as long as you keep them, but there is far less of a natural feel.

Selecting Placement

Next, you’ll want to decide which type of placement is optimal for the final look you’re trying to achieve. There are a few options when it comes to placement. One option is to place the implant behind the pectoral muscle. This would be considered a submuscular placement and requires a longer surgery and healing process, however, it has a much more natural appearance and feel. Submuscular placement can also leave the breast tissue open to scanning and keep scar tissue to a minimum level.

The other placement option is behind the breast tissue (as opposed to behind the muscle as well). This would be a subglandular placement and allows for a much quicker surgery and recovery time. Since there are no muscles involved in this placement, it is a much smoother transition from surgery to complete healing, however, larger implants are used which can cause more scar tissue. And since there is less help from your muscle, these implants can be more apparent and not as supported.

Deciding on the Best Size

Those who are seeking an increase of size often want to go to a DD to have that drastic difference they’ve been seeking, but going bigger is not always the best idea. It’s possible to go up a few cup sizes, but if you’re used to having an A or B and suddenly go to a DD the difference wouldn’t be as ideal as you think. A lot of women with extremely large breasts complain of back and neck pains, headaches, etc. For example, if you are built with a more petite frame a DD may not be the best option. Something more like a C cup would still give you that dramatic difference and maintain a more natural posture for your frame. Size is definitely a personal decision and many petite women successfully decide on DD’s, but it’s really up to you. Think it over, take a look at before and after images with breast implant procedures, and see what you like best.

Enhancing Your Implants with a Lift

Breast lifts are much easier than implant surgeries. Quicker and far less healing time when completed on their own. Many times, however, women want to go through with a breast lift to remove some extra skin that can cause sagging breasts, while also adding an implant to maintain a fuller cup size. Combining a breast lift with implants can give you the best of both worlds. You’ll get a perkier, younger looking breast while also keeping or even increasing your usual cup size.

Combining both of these services is ideal for those who have lost a lot of weight or have gone through pregnancies and nursing babies. Life definitely takes a toll on our bodies, but there’s absolutely no reason a woman should endure breasts they don’t enjoy. Keeping your shirt on during sex or refusing to look at yourself in the mirror shouldn’t be the case for any woman. Feeling beautiful in your skin is important and breast enhancement surgeries are a great way to feel like the youthful woman you still are! There’s nothing like a new hairstyle that leaves you feeling vibrant and fresh, just imagine how magnified that feeling will be when you step out of the shower with a body you are once again proud to show off!

There are many options when it comes to achieving your ideal breasts, but the first step, truly, is to get in touch with a cosmetic surgeon who will personally walk you through all of the options until you discover exactly what’s right for you!

With this approach, we can make sure that you will be as safe as possible. We speak with you about your expectations and goals before assessing your medical history and determining the safest, most effective plan.

What’s the difference between reconstructive and cosmetic surgery?

The purpose of cosmetic surgery is to reshape the body to improve self-esteem and create a more ideal self-image. On the other hand, the purpose of reconstructive surgery is to address disfigurement, defects, and other abnormalities. These issues may arise after accidents, surgeries to remove tumors, and things of that nature. Another big difference between these two types of surgery is the fact that cosmetic surgery is rarely covered by health insurance, while reconstructive surgery is usually covered.

What can I expect when I recover from my cosmetic surgery?

Your recovery experience depends on a number of factors. First of all, the type of procedure you choose may impact your recovery. Some procedures are less extensive and invasive than others, and you will likely experience an easier recovery period as a result. In addition, different patients recover in different ways. Some may require more or less pain medication than others. Your surgeon can prescribe the correct pain medications to help you overcome any discomfort. The good news is that virtually all facial cosmetic procedures involve easy recovery periods.

    How does Botox work?

Botox injections are designed to reduce or remove visible signs of aging. The most common targets are hyper-functional lines - commonly known as “wrinkles.” These lines result from the contraction of underlying facial musculature, and Botox is effective because it temporarily weakens these muscles and prevents them from contracting. Botox does this without affecting the sensory feeling in these muscles. Botox may take up to 7 days to take full effect, although some patients notice considerable results in as little as 24 hours.

How do I choose the right size for my breast implants?

Choosing the right size for your new breast implants is an important decision. The choice is obviously based heavily on your own personal desires and tastes. On the other hand, you also need to take into account a number of additional factors. You might need to consider things like whether you have breastfed heavily in the past, and how this has affected your breasts. Remember, you can also receive cosmetic surgery to make breasts smaller. You can even receive surgery to change the general shape of the breasts without necessarily changing their size.

How long do I need to take off work?

You may need to take some time off work after undergoing your cosmetic procedure. Your surgeon will speak with you and let you know how long you need to fully recuperate. In general, most patients should rest for at least a week after receiving cosmetic surgery (less invasive procedures like Botox shouldn’t require any time off work).
